Weekend Stairway Conditions: Sunny and Crisp

It looks like we'll get a healthy amount of sun this weekend, so bundle up for urban hiking! This picture was taken yesterday from the top of the Dose Terrace stairs (near 34th Ave S and S Dose Terrace). The veil of leaves has mostly fallen now, revealing tantalizing glimpses of lake and landscape.

There's a lot of walking going on this weekend. Here's a sampling of Sunday Meetup walks: the Feet First Meetup Group has one in Magnolia; Urban Hikers is walking in Discovery Park; and Seattle Atheists/Agnostics will be strolling around Green Lake (we'll be there). To sign up for any of these, you just need to register with Meetup first.

Happy walking!

Stairways in Kirkland!

North entrance, Crestview Park: 210 steps

Until now our experience of Kirkland was limited to the little urban village around Central Way and Lake Street S. Last weekend, though, Feet First Neighborhood Walking Ambassador Dave Ramsay showed us how much we've been missing.

He led us and about 25 other walkers on a 6-mile loop through a couple of Kirkland's neighborhoods and a half-dozen great parks, each of them different from the rest. The slides below give a quick overview of what we discovered. We were blown away!

Feet First's Neighborhood Walking Ambassador program leads adventuresome walks all over. Check out their Meetup Group for a wealth of current urban hiking opportunities.
