10. East Queen Anne (Abbreviated Directions)
Start: Pedestrian overpass at west Lake Union, near Westlake Ave. N and Galer St.
Climb stairs up to overpass above Westlake Ave.
After overpass, continue up several flights of stairs to Dexter Ave. N
Cross Dexter, and continue ahead to next stairs on R side of Galer street-end
Up stairs to pedestrian overpass of Aurora Ave. N
After crossing above Aurora, continue on stairs up hill
At top of stairs, continue ahead on Galer
Next block, first cross and then turn L alongside Taylor Ave. N, passing stairs on R
R up Lee St. to 5th Ave. N, then up short flight of stairs at street-end; L onto 5th
From 5th, just past apartments, turn R into Bhy Kracke Park
Take sidewalk behind play area, climbing up hillside to viewpoint
Continue up Comstock Pl., from NW corner of viewpoint
Comstock Pl ends in a few steps at Bigelow Ave. N
Cross Bigelow, then turn R to walk on path beside Bigelow
Turn L at Lee St., climbing up a hairpin turn to L
Where Lee curves R, take stairway on L
At bottom, turn R onto Bigelow
At 3rd Ave. N, head L to find stairs descending to Prospect St.
At bottom of stairs turn R onto Prospect
R at 2nd Ave. N, and up stairs; angle R at Highland Dr. to find next flight up
At top rejoin 2nd Ave.; walk ahead to Lee and turn L
Walk W on Lee to end; then turn L onto 1st Ave. N
Where lane ends, continue ahead on sidewalk, to top of Comstock stairs
At bottom walk ahead to Queen Anne Ave.N; turn R

From E side of Queen Anne Ave. turn R to head up Galer-Queen Anne stairs
Continue ahead, passing four streets on the way to historic Queen Anne High School

From the high school, continue E on Galer
At forked junction with 4th Ave. N, bear slightly R to top of next flight of Galer stairs
At bottom, cross Bigelow and continue down stairs
At bottom, continue straight down Galer St. to street end and stairs at Taylor
This is your last previously unwalked section of uphill Galer stairs
At bottom, continue down, reversing your original uphill route on the Galer stairs
Your walk ends back at the marina
To follow main route from Queen Anne High School:
Continue briefly E on Galer, then L onto Nob Hill Ave. N
L onto Garfield St., then R onto 3rd Ave. N; after three blocks, turn R onto Howe St.
After one block on Howe, turn L onto Nob Hill
One block past Newton St. watch for fanciful Victorian cottage on R
R at Crockett St., R onto 4th Ave.
Watch for historic, turreted John Hay School (1905) on L, just before Newton
L at Newton; R onto Bigelow Ave. N; at Howe look on L for top of next stairs
At bottom of stairs continue ahead to 5th, then turn R along sidewalk
Cross 5th opposite Trolley Hill Park entrance
After exploring park, return to entrance and turn R
Walk N on 5th to Howe, turn R
L onto Taylor Ave. N. Continue N on Taylor to Crockett, for viewpoint at concrete wall
Descend a few stairs at S end of wall, leading down to trail
(Note: this trail is narrow and fairly steep, and can be muddy in winter. Use caution.)
Trail angles down hillside to bottom
At trail bottom turn R onto Dexter Way N, to enter short tunnel
(Note public art covering tunnel and surrounding structures)
Continue on Dexter Way to Dexter Ave. N and cross, turning R along Dexter
L onto Crockett and ahead to top of final stairs
At bottom, cross Westlake and then parking lot, to reach pedestrian walkway
R onto walkway, then 0.4 mile back to start, near Westlake pedestrian overpass
