Longfellow Creek and Pigeon Point
This 2 mile-long Seattle stairway walk takes place in West Seattle, atop the northern tip of Puget Ridge. From the top of this tree-covered ridge in the Pigeon Point neighborhood, you can get peek-a-boo views both east and west, Cascades and Olympics, depending on the season. The walk starts out down in the lowlands, on the incredible Longfellow Creek Legacy Trail, where you'll explore one of the nicest sections of this year-round creek. Thanks to careful design and determined restoration work largely carried out by volunteers, salmon and other native species swim here again.

I'm new to the area and would really like to find it. Could you tell me exactly where to enter. I live at Link Apts, so I know it's close to me.
You're not too far. Head over to 35th from Link Apartments and go north to Avalon and turn right at the light. Just after the curve turn right onto Genesee, heading downhill. The part of Longfellow Creek that's on this walk can be accessed from the stairs along Genesee on the left (north) side, just before you get to 26th. Hope this helps!
Will you be posting a map?
We're working right now on a Stairway Walks book, to come out in August 2012 with Mountaineers Books. It'll have directions, descriptions, maps and pictures for 25 walks in various neighborhoods, including this one.
Just a brief heads up that, as of early February, 2016, the Andover Steps were being repaired by the City of Seattle. If the repairs haven't been completed, just continue walking north one block to Southwest Charleston and turn right to rejoin the route.
